St. Martins Therme & Lodge, Central Europe’s first four-star rated lodge, is surrounded by untouched nature and is a perfect place for you to explore fauna and flora of the nearby National Park Neusiedler See – Seewinkel. The cross-border National Park is situated in eastern Austria between the last foothills of the Alps and the Little Hungarian Plain to the east. With Lake Neusiedl, which is the largest steppe lake in Central Europe, the surrounding reed beds and the meadows, pastures and salty shallow lakes, the park is one of the most fascinating natural areas in Europe. More than 350 species of birds have been recorded, such as Pygmy Cormorant, Eastern Imperial Eagle, Great Bustard, Syrian Woodpecker, Golden Oriole, Hoopoe, Bee-eater, Barred Warbler and a range of waders and breeding waterfowl. Winter brings large flocks of Greylag and White-fronted Geese, along with Common Cranes and White-tailed Eagles. St. Martins Therme & Lodge is just an hour journey from the capital cities of Vienna and Bratislava.
Services:
The St. Martins Rangers – qualified biologists and environmental educators – will take you on safaris and guided tours of the highest standards through the national park. St. Martins tailors exclusive birding tours to your wishes with a duration ranging from two hours to half-day long. Or you can choose from the scheduled safaris of the weekly program, which cover a variety of topics. Swarovski Optik equipment is included in all of the guided tours, as well as transport. Just recently a birding hide has been installed by St. Martins at a restored portion of a former salt lake on the lodge’s property, to offer close-range wildlife experiences on-site. Ready for private rental soon! Also St. Martins has its own bird ringing station, which can be visited during the course of guided tours.
Guestrooms:
St Martin’s is one of the best-appointed rural accommodations in Austria, with a wide range of comfortable suites and rooms to suit singles to families (dogs are also welcome). Each accommodation has a balcony, bathroom with shower or bath, separate toilet, TV, radio, internet connection and complimentary minibar – plus fabulous views over the lodge’s lake and Natura 2000 protected area. Also staying at St. Martins includes delicious buffet breakfasts, 5 course dinners, access to the lodge spa with its thermal baths and saunas.
