Overseas visitors have the option to arrive at Bucharest by air then make the two-hour journey by highway to Silistra, crossing the Danube River by ferry, alternatively land at Varna Airport, which is a direct two-hour drive to Srebarna Village. A regular ferry service across the Danube (twenty-minute drive from the guesthouse) connects the cities of Silistra (Bulgaria) and Calarasi (Romania). Enjoy peace of mind admiring the natural scents within 3000 square metres of tranquil landscaped gardens, or have the pleasure of watching the wildlife from an upper terrace facing the lake. The property is currently for sale, inquiries from birders are welcomed!

Services:

Outstanding birdwatching commences, quite literally, from your doorstep. Nature excursions quickly access bird-rich locations around protected lakes, fishponds and riparian forests along the Danube - in both Bulgaria and Romania. Lake Srebarna, situated beside the south bank of the Danube, supports the only colony of Dalmatian Pelicans in Bulgaria. It also hosts over 150 breeding birds, including Ruddy Shelduck, Red-necked Grebe, Great and Little Egrets, Night, Squacco and Purple Herons, Glossy Ibis, Spoonbill, Pygmy Cormorant and Whiskered Tern, while the lake margins feature typical nesting haunts of Levant, Golden Oriole, Penduline Tit, Roller, Syrian and Grey-headed Woodpeckers. The adjacent river islands accommodate Cormorant colonies, also a nesting pair of White-tailed Eagles plus Black Woodpeckers. Numerous migrants pass through, including Black Storks, abundant raptors, waders and passerines; and, during winter, the area becomes a refuge for migrant wildfowl including the enigmatic Red-breasted Goose

Guestrooms:

The guesthouse is 2-star rated, providing 5 double/twin rooms sharing 2 bathrooms. On the ground floor there are 2 twin rooms sharing a bathroom with shower. On the upper floor there are 3 bedrooms (1 dbl and 2 twin) sharing a bathroom with shower. These rooms access a large terrace facing the lake. In the basement there is a living/dining room together with open-plan kitchen. There are also internet facilities, TV and, of course, excellent food - indoor dining and outdoor barbeques - serving traditional local cuisine.
