Location: Pikla birdhouse is located right on the shore of the Livonian Bay. It is part of the Luitemaa Nature Reserve and Ramsar wetland, and among the most diverse bird sanctuaries in Estonia - at least 278 bird species have been recorded here including a wealth of dabbling ducks, seabirds, waders and herons. Pikla lies midway between Tallinn and Riga and is easily reached from the Via-Baltica highway. It is only 25 km away from the beach resort town of Pärnu and other coastal bird havens (Matsalu national park, Audru Polder and Kabli bird station) are nearby.
Services: Pikla birdhouse is an ideal base for bird-, wildlife and nature enthusiasts and photographers. The comfortable house is surrounded by bird rich marine and coastal wetlands, and there are two public birdwatching towers and many pathways. An English-speaking guide is available. It is also possible to arrange photographic workshops and training courses on wildlife, landscapes, drone flying and other topics. In addition, we rent out high quality hides from which to photograph wintering White-tailed Eagles, Bitterns, breeding and lekking Ruffs and other waders, as well as floating hides for waterbirds on lagoons, ponds and the sea, and hides for forest and marshland species. The Birdhouse serves delicious meals based on the local foodstuffs, as well as picnics and lunchboxes, with hot and cold drinks for daytrips. A genuine Estonian UNESCO-heritage smoke sauna or more modern Finnish sauna are available. Guestrooms: The Pikla birdhouse has 5 double/twin rooms, 1 single room and a luxury suite with a panoramic view on the second floor. Half of the rooms have a balcony with the seaside view while the others overlook the fishponds. All rooms have WC and shower. Free wifi is available in the lobby.
